We’re back with another episode of the php|architect Podcast—and, to make up for the hiatus, this one is extra long, clocking in at almost one full hour of PHP goodness!

In this episode, which shall henceforth be referred to as the one where we finally tell Tweeps who think we’re boring how we really feel about them, our special guest is Nate Abele, original co-developer of the CakePHP framework.

Topics covered in this podcast include:

  • ZendCon recap
  • Lithium, Nate’s new project
  • Commercial companies entering the PHP market

About the author—Cal Evans is a veteran of the browser wars. (BW-I, the big one) He has been programming for more years than he likes to remember but for the past [redacted] years he's been working strictly with PHP, MySQL and their friends. Cal regularly speaks at PHP users groups and conferences, writes articles and wanders the net looking for trouble to cause. He blogs on an "as he feels like it" basis at Postcards from my life.

php|architect is Looking for a Few Good Bloggers!

Big changes are afoot at php|a headquarters! We don’t want to spoil the surprise for everyone, but for the moment let us just say that we’re looking for a few expert bloggers to help us create kick-ass content
for phparch.com.

As Pro Bloggers for phparch.com, you will be responsible for reporting important news, information, tricks, articles and posts that are going to help make php|a the best destination for PHP community members from all paths of life.

We are looking for bloggers who can work collaboratively and publish items as they become relevant, adding a unique perspective and flavour to the reporting that only their level of expertise can bring in one or more of these areas:

  • PHP (both the language and the surrounding platform)
  • PHP community
  • Database (all welcome)
  • Freelancing
  • Development frameworks (all welcome!)
  • Content management systems (Drupal, WordPress, etc.)
  • RIAs
  • Javascript/AJAX (including jQuery, Prototype, etc.)
  • HTML/CSS techniques (as they relate to developers)

You don’t need to be a published author to become a php|a blogger—just have a good understanding of the topics you want to cover, be able to express measured opinions based on your personal experience and the ability to write clear, engaging and grammatically correct text. The effort can be commensurate to your availability and as flexible as you need it to be.

Interested? Drop us an e-mail at bloggers@phparch.com and we’ll send you more information on what we expect from you, compensation, special programs available only to our pro bloggers, and all other relevant information.

About the author—Marco is the keeper of keys and Chief Garbage Collector at Blue Parabola, php|architect's parent company. He can be found on Twitter as @mtabini.
