April 2014 php[architect] Magazine Released – Major Players

Posted by on April 23, 2014

It’s spring, and (here in the U.S.) the Majors are starting up! In sports, we all have our favorites- the ones we love, and the ones we love to hate. In PHP, we have the similar players- Drupal, WordPress, and Yii Framework (to name a few). Love them or hate them, you can’t deny that they’re Major Players! We have a lot of ground to cover this month:

  • Drupal’s a beast; there’s no denying it. There’s also no denying its extreme utility. Oscar Merida will help show you how to “Programmatically Control Drupal”.
  • Yii Framework 2.0 is soon to be out of Alpha. Philip Moorjani will introduce you to the benefits of this gem of a framework.
  • Matthew Setter will show you how easy it can be to contribute and help you to “Get Started with Joind.in”.
  • Do you know 10 ways to make WordPress faster? Jason McCreary will show you 21 ways to make it fly!
  • Dirk Merkel talks “Advanced Authentication” in Laravel.
  • Matthew Setter is back to help you “Fly with Phalcon”.
  • Our Confident Coder, Aaron Saray, teaches you, “Take Care of Resources, They Will Take Care of You”.

Kevin is the sole Designer/Front End Developer in the band of developers called musketeers.me. He has spent half of his 20 year design career drifting between Web Designer and Developer and lives in both camps comfortably. Being an evangelist of clean design and clean code, he runs a local design meetup and speaks at national tech conferences.
