Introduction to PHP
Last night, Sandy and I presented a short introduction to PHP for DCWebWomen. Our presentation covered the growth of the language over the last decade and introduced the audience to basic language concepts like variable types, arrays, and control structures. The audience had excellent questions and feedback throughout the talk. We were pleased to share some of what we’ve learned.

About the author—Oscar still remembers downloading an early version of the Apache HTTP server at the end of 1995, and promptly asking "Ok, what's this good for?"
In September 2000, he first had the pleasure of working alongside Sandy Smith at Forum One Communications, building web sites for non-profit, advocacy, and member-based organizations. In 2008, he joined D.C. United, and while he didn't see a minute of on field action for the professional soccer team, he rebuilt dcunited.com, and later MLSSoccer.com, using Drupal to integrate with Twitter, Facebook, Brightcove, Flickr, and more.
While still on the look out for the occasional pick-up soccer game, he also writes at oscarm.org and runs soccerblogs.net.
