24 Days: The Family you Choose

Posted by on December 9, 2015

Samantha Quiñones, aka @ieatkillerbees wrote a wonderful contribution to 24 Days in December. In The Family You Choose, she shares that:

I spent the first half of my career isolated in the long loneliness. It almost broke me, but I learned in time to not be afraid of letting other people into my life. I learned that I had a lot to gain from building relationships with other people. More importantly, I learned how much I had to offer.

I was humbled to learn that her first exposure to the PHP community was php[tek] 2013 and about the profound impact going to tek had on her life. Putting on each event is a ton of work but seeing how it can affect the lives, professional and otherwise, of our speakers and attendees is very rewarding. If you haven’t read her piece yet, I urge you to stop what you’re doing and go read it now.

When you’re done, registration for php[tek] 2016 is now open.

Oscar still remembers downloading an early version of the Apache HTTP server at the end of 1995, and promptly asking "Ok, what's this good for?" He started learning PHP in 2000 and hasn't stopped since. He's worked with Drupal, WordPress, Zend Framework, and bespoke PHP, to name a few. Follow him on Google+.
